Beschreibung
Between heaven and hell stands only one thing – The House. The lives of five people from different corners of the United States suddenly begin to be invaded by terrifying phenomena. Their previously problem-free existence is disrupted by the incomprehensible behavior of those around them, death followed by a return from the dead, encounters with a strange, terrifying little girl and a peculiar doll. In confronting things between heaven and earth, they discover that memories of childhood are awakening within them, of trauma so strong that they had repressed it to live normally. Now everything comes alive, and before them, the outlines of a mysterious, gloomy mansion begin to emerge from the mists of forgetfulness. Echoes of the past urge them to leave their current lives and return to where they once came from. From the dark corridors and rooms of their distant childhood, the voice of The House calls them. To save themselves and their loved ones, they must overcome fears and ominous premonitions, realize that they are not alone, and confront their nightmares, or else the phantoms will trap them behind doors and within walls from which there is no escape. The House is a novel that became famous, among other things, for being read with great interest by Stephen King while he was walking when he was struck and nearly killed by a van driven by an inattentive driver in 1999.
