Beschreibung
Shortly after World War II, several residents in the picturesque village of Chawton in southern England agreed to attempt a remarkable endeavor. It had been more than a century since Chawton was home to Jane Austen, one of the most significant English writers. The estate there, where her distant relatives still live, is now facing financial difficulties. There is a danger that the last remnants of the Austens will be sold off and fall into unknown hands. For this reason, a diverse group of people comes together – including a young widow, a country doctor, a maid, and a movie star – who could hardly be more different, yet they share one thing in common: they all love the novels of Jane Austen. Each of them must cope with the blows that fate has dealt them during these hard times, but they are united by a dream: to build a museum of Jane Austen in their village and preserve her legacy for the future. A novel set in an authentic environment about hope, the sorrow of loss, and love, which can bring joy not only to fans of Jane Austen.
