Beschreibung
According to the historian Herodotus, in the 6th century BC, a slave named Aesop, or Ezop, lived in Asia Minor. He was said to be hunchbacked, deformed, and stuttering, but his mind was sharper and his thinking more penetrating than that of tall and healthy people. He could entertain listeners with animal fables and witty stories, but not all of his contemporaries admired him. It is said that he was executed in Delphi for alleged blasphemy against the gods. Most of the ancient fables are attributed to Aesop, but they were recorded only three centuries after his death. They have been retold many times in prose and verse, and there are few who do not know who Aesop was.
But whether this wise man was named Aesop or something else, whether he lived in the 6th century BC or at another time, whether he was of Thracian origin or otherwise, the main thing is that his fables have not aged to this day. The world has fundamentally changed since then; people fly into space and communicate across the globe, but they are governed by the same joys, passions, and vices as Aesop's contemporaries. That is why we understand them so well - both adults and children. Picking up a retelling of Aesop's fables by Jiří Žáček and reading wise and funny stories with children, looking at the illustrations by Adolf Born, and talking about life can be a moment...
