Komnata ozvěn – Boyne John (2022)

The brilliantly written book The Echo Chamber holds up a mirror to today's world without pulling any punches, in an incredibly entertaining way, particularly regarding the influence of media and social networks on society's life, where a single post sent from a mobile phone on Twitter or Instagram can turn an individual's life and that of their entire family upside down, just as it happened to the protagonists of the novel, the Cleverly family, living in present-day London. Through their story, John Boyne illustrates how a wonderful gadget like a mobile phone, or 180 grams of metal, glass, and plastic, can become a very dangerous weapon in the hands of 'ignorant' and 'foolish' people. One can be the most benevolent philanthropist, but just a few words uttered in good faith and meant as support can be twisted by the world of social networks to suit its will, turning the individual into a monster, as George Cleverley (a famous television presenter at the BBC), his wife Beverley (also a famous writer, though not as well-known as she would like), and their three adult or teenage children, Nelson, Elizabeth, and Achilles, will learn firsthand. In just a few days, they embark on a revealing journey through the jungle of modern life, where past truths no longer hold, and a carefully built reputation can be shattered in an instant...
