Beschreibung
Alfons Mucha is one of the most significant representatives of the Art Nouveau style, which emerged in the 1890s in Paris. Mucha's fame was primarily due to his creation of posters, decorative panels, calendars, and advertising prints. Ivan Lendl's collection currently represents the most complete set of Alfons Mucha's posters in the world, complemented by a number of other artifacts of Mucha's work. This publication is released on the occasion of the exhibition Ivan Lendl: Alfons Mucha in Prague. It contains newly created high-quality color reproductions of all the exhibits from Lendl's collection and more than 100 preparatory drawings, sketches, and prints, which allow a glimpse into Mucha's 'artistic kitchen.' Particularly interesting are also 25 photographs documenting Mucha's Parisian period. In terms of scope and documentary value, this is a completely unique work that brings closer the significant stages of Alfons Mucha's creation.
