Beschreibung
Travelling light with just a backpack, wandering through forests, photographing dragonflies, meeting people and living: in 1996, Dan Bárta’s series of more and less wild journeys begins in Indonesia. Now, almost thirty years later, he returns to places that have transformed his world. This Czech-language book is not an autobiography of a famous singer, a travelogue or a study of dragonflies, although it may be a little of all three, or perhaps even autofiction. In his distinctive poetic and ironic style, Bárta captures a world where almost anything is possible: chiefs wear gold chains wrapped around their arms and hold iPhones, people mix stimulants that keep you flying for hours, taxi drivers must be paid with anything found in your pocket, and soup is made from aquarium fish. It is a world where creatures of every colour, size and shape still live freely and wildly, and where naturalists bid you goodnight, a strangely innocent world because it is ordinary. The book is based on the Czech Radio Vltava podcast Nevinnosti světa.
