Beschreibung
The author's collection by poet and editor Martin Stöhr (born 1970) is composed of three of his earliest collections (Now Nights, Hour Mountain, Transitional Residences), which are now difficult to obtain. The added value comes from the illustrations by Matěj Lipavský, and a portion of the print run includes his original graphic sheet. Jiří Zizler, the author of the afterword, reminds us that the poet "belongs to that fortunate generation of poets who had the opportunity to enter literature in the 1990s, in the last period when poetry still held weight. In the airy space of that decade, the generation born around 1970 meets the immensely powerful and still active generation half a century older. [...] However, it didn't take long for the protagonists to witness the inexorable decline of interest in poetry and its waning prestige. Yet that original atmosphere somehow got under their skin and turned a number of hopeful muse candidates into true creators. Some gave up and arranged their lives differently in the world, but others took on the role of poet forever, even if they didn't churn out collection after collection." A balance of those early years, a testimony to the transition from canonical spiritual lyricism to more civil and personal lyrical tones.
