Kosťa is returning from prison and he doesn't have much time left. Cíba and Fošna will never really work hard, no matter how much Rýma tries to push them. The three Maries are settling old scores by a dried-up well, and on New Year's Eve, everything might explode. In the end, the poor cat is the best off, as he has no idea about his fate. Everything around is changing, and the only certainty is that fate has not dealt equally good cards to everyone.
The heroes of the stories are sparing with words and carefully guard their secrets, traumas, loves, and hopes. They rarely let anyone close and almost never ask for help.
