Kobold (Surpluses of Tenderness and Surpluses of People) is a double novel. Two stories in one book like two elements — water and fire, which transforms what is seen. Or two rivers merging into one flow? It is a book about the forms of irresistible love and refined violence. About how human existence is predetermined by the family into which we are born, or the ideology in which we are immersed. About a society hardened both inside and at the edges, towards all the 'weaker' and sensitive ones. The torments of these characters are the diseases of our time. And the source of these torments seems to be the Kobolds. Kobold loosely follows the books And I Still Wonder Who is Knocking (2005) and Money from Hitler (2006), and the author concludes her trilogy about Central European twentieth century. Nominated for the Josef Škvorecký Award 2011 Nominated for the Czech Book Award.
