Beschreibung
Occasionally, he was criticized for his complexity, rationality, and even depersonalization, but Jiří Štěpán (born 1990) did not deviate from his chosen path after his "opening" collection Liquid Mirror, and his voice (uncommon in this scene, inspired more by the Anglo-American tradition) now resonates even more convincingly. The new collection is conceptual. The individual poems are written using the "golden shovel" method, invented by poet Terrance Hayes. The form consists of each line ending with words that collectively create another original poem. The key to the "score" became twenty-nine texts from poets close to him; personally or through their worldview. And what is the result of such a "golden shoveling"? Štěpán's old theme (the human being and their place on earth and in the universe) in a new, captivating play. A book with a personal imprint, yet unique primarily in its way of communicating with poetry and its creators. The author states: "With these texts, I thank for the poems, for their strength and fragility, which they bring into life. These encounters are a prelude to feelings and thoughts that will endure." A book of invocation, a book of gratitude. A rare poetic book.
