Beschreibung
Dramaturg, playwright, and occasional musician Ondřej Novotný (born 1984) waited for his debut, and surely it was worth it. His method is civil, almost cold, yet the results are urgent and fiery. It is no coincidence that his poems represent snapshots of stories, often familial, or contain other dramatic situations. Precisely captured moments of relational mishaps, the decay of the closest ones, personal midlife crises, and social discord. How to survive? How not to be helpless in that crumbling "mild zone of history"? Who are we, where are we heading? What must we experience before we become "just another extinct species"? The title may remind some of the slogan no future (perhaps to the punks with whom the poet shared his adolescence), while others may think of the Latin carpe diem. More introverted beings might nod in agreement that such a life has indeed been enough, that we will somehow get through it. But the author's alcohol-soaked alter ego ultimately cannot sustain that life pose and lightly sighs: "One more attempt!" Yes! That is poetry too...
