A crazy comedy about how real crime is much more complicated than it seems on paper. Finlay Donovan is a harried divorced mother and mystery author, with both her muses and money running away from her. Finlay's life is one big chaos: the deadline for her promised manuscript is approaching relentlessly, and ideas are nowhere to be found, her ex-husband has unexpectedly fired the nanny, and her agent wants to meet at a place where Finlay is banned from entering (don't ask). It only takes one overheard—and misunderstood—conversation for a woman at the neighboring table to mistake Finlay for a hired killer and present her with a very tempting offer. Before Finlay can untangle herself from the misunderstanding, she finds herself deeply embroiled in the investigation of a real murder. Which, of course, makes for a great book idea! She just needs to get rid of all the threads connecting her to the case... and one body.
