Jadérko is a lush and mysterious book about trees and the people beneath them — about people living in a world they are transforming. During the colonization of pristine America, the faun Chapman, an apple tree planter, travels: a creature open to the original order of nature, a man determined to impose his own order on the world, and an ancient mythical being haunted by both past and present guilt. In the second half of the twenty-first century, America is a land of exhausted possibilities and limited freedoms, whose landscape is being 'resettled' by tree breeder John, who wants to give the Earth a new chance by erasing the human stain from it. At the end of the world in an icy wasteland survives the last wretched nameless cyborg, the heir to all creation. After hundreds of years of existence in symbiosis with tired machines, it stands at the beginning of a journey for which it was presumably originally created. It cannot see its end, but it knows that it converges with its own end like roots in one trunk. A terrible voice of the singer Orpheus resonates in everyone's life, a lament capable of creating and destroying micro-worlds.
