The thirteenth installment of the detective series featuring Inspector Malin Fors. The air in Linköping smells of spring, and Malin Fors has promising prospects ahead of her. Although the shadows of the past still haunt her, it seems she has finally entered calmer waters. However, when a random passerby in the park discovers the corpse of a brutally murdered young homosexual man, Malin must dive headfirst into a complicated investigation. The man's body is mutilated, and investigators find a chilling detail: deep bite marks likely inflicted by a human. When another murdered body is found, also a homosexual, everything points to a hate crime — yet Malin struggles to clarify the motive and instead delves into the past of the first victim. Moreover, after some time, she gets drunk again, and her boss Karim is now watching her closely. As part of her rehabilitation process, Malin must undergo regular drug tests, and one comes back positive, although she swears she is clean. Does she have an enemy at the police station who contaminated her sample?
