A grand historical fresco about Europe during the French Revolution. The Great French Revolution culminates in the execution of the king and queen, and an atmosphere of fear and violence spreads across France. In the Habsburg monarchy, Emperor Leopold II rules, but after his unexpected death, his young son Franz becomes the ruler. He is firmly determined to prevent a revolution from breaking out in his empire—he does not want to allow a 'time of beheading' to occur. Step by step, we follow the struggle of the conservative ruler against revolutionaries in Vienna and Hungary, gaining insight into the activities of secret societies, secret agents, and prudent Slovak Enlightenment thinkers. We get to know the environments of palaces, monasteries, and printing houses, but also courtrooms, cells, and execution sites in Trnava, Vienna, Prague, Paris, and Lyon. Events over two hundred years old remind us in many ways of our present.
