Can a young man find the strength to return to life after a painful encounter with death? It is October 1966. William Lavery has successfully completed his studies, becoming the youngest embalmer in the country, and is celebrating his achievements at a festive dinner. However, he has no idea that on the very same evening, he will use his newly acquired skills for the first time in practice—embalmers from all over Britain are converging on the Welsh town of Aberfan, where a massive tragedy has claimed the lives of over a hundred children. What William experiences during that long, cold night will change him forever. It forces him to remember his boyhood years, a time when he wholeheartedly wished to dedicate his life to music instead of the path of an embalmer. It also reminds him of the moment that irrevocably destroyed that dream but led him here, to Aberfan. A place that will show him the value of helping others, but also the power of kindness.
