Such disappearances have happened before in this area, and the legends of the Hungerer and the Mountain of Spirits still awaken locals from their slumber. From the start, it is clear that someone is playing a dirty game in the mountains. The main suspect quickly becomes a local drug dealer — the father of one of the missing girls. Detective Con Badenhorst, however, knows that in this town, filled with corrupt police officers, political intrigue, and ancient secrets, no one can be trusted. Especially when the sister of one of the missing girls is an internet star and seems to know more about the disappearance than she reveals.
