The Second, Revised Edition of the First Case of Marie Výrová Just ten years and five books were enough for Commissioner Výrová to become one of the most popular figures in contemporary Czech detective fiction. In a church in Štěpánov near Olomouc, the body of a young woman is found, suggesting she fell victim to a strange ritual. Commissioner Výrová, while unraveling the mystery involving the local priest, a philandering ornithologist, and a deranged pseudo-expert on religious sects, navigates between a typical Haná village populated by quirky characters and the university in Olomouc. Meanwhile, the dead keep piling up, while the suspects do not decrease... The case for the exorcist fulfills all the signs of a well-written detective story: a bizarre murder, thrilling investigation, dramatic twists, skillfully dosed humor, credibly depicted environment and characters, and above all, a likable team of detectives. A successful series adaptation was produced by Czech Television based on a script by Petr Jarchovský. Directed by Jan Hřebejk, the lead role was played by Klára Melíšková.
