This Czech-language crime novel follows police officer Hanna Wester as the remote Swedish town of Haparanda faces utter chaos. When human remains are found in the stomach of a dead she-wolf, the police connect the discovery with a bloody drug deal that was supposed to take place on the Finnish border. How did the victim end up in the forests around Haparanda, and where have the drugs and money gone? Hanna and her colleagues race to find answers, but time is running out, and they are not the only ones searching. The arrival of the mysterious and dangerous Katja sets off a chain of brutal and unexpected events. Within just a few days, life in Haparanda is turned upside down, especially for Hanna, who is ultimately forced to confront her own past.
