Rebecka Martinsson, a prosecutor in northern Sweden's Kiruna, gets embroiled in a case of cold-blooded murder. A young couple has cut a hole in the ice on a lake to dive down to a plane wreck lying on the bottom. But during the dive, someone cuts the rope and covers the hole with wooden doors. The young people have no chance. What were they looking for in the plane wreck? And who punished them with death? In her investigation, Rebecka uncovers long-hidden events from the past. She discovers a dangerous web woven from guilt, fear, and betrayal, into which the local residents are entangled.
