Beschreibung

The distance between people can be endless. Marie, a divorced forty-seven-year-old literature lecturer, finds herself in the semi-empty apartment of her sister in Český Krumlov over the summer. From there, she commutes to the countryside to care for her seriously ill parents and, in her free moments, wanders among the crowds of tourists in the streets of Krumlov. During this time, she meets a young book dealer named Filip. Their budding romance breathes the atmosphere of a hot July and numerous literary connotations. However, Marie primarily wants to mend her relationship with her sister and take care of her parents — a dominant father and a gentle, self-sacrificing mother. And to come to terms with her loneliness. She perceives it as being stuck in time, where memories from the past weigh down on her — and from the other side, the prospect of old age looms. In the family tradition of strong male role models, Marie reflects on what has been and simultaneously asks how to live on and what to do with her 'Shakespearean love'...
