Beschreibung
The distance between people can be endless. Marie, a divorced forty-seven-year-old literature lecturer, finds herself in her sister's half-empty apartment in Český Krumlov over the summer. She commutes from there to the countryside to visit her seriously ill parents and, in her free time, wanders among the crowds of tourists in the streets of Krumlov. During this time, she meets a young bookseller named Filip. Their budding romance breathes the atmosphere of a hot July and numerous literary connotations. However, Marie primarily wants to mend her relationship with her sister and take care of her parents—a dominant father and a gentle, self-sacrificing mother. And to come to terms with her loneliness. She perceives it as being stuck in time, where memories from the past weigh down on her—and from the other side, the prospects of old age loom. In a family tradition of strong male role models, Marie reflects on what was, while simultaneously asking how to live on and what to do with her 'Shakespearean love'...
