Beschreibung
Journalist Alice Robb learned about lucid dreaming during a research expedition in Peru, where the sleeping person is aware of their state and can even influence the shape of their own dreams. For Robb, it was a confusing yet uplifting experience. In the following months, she dedicated herself to studying contemporary scientific knowledge about dreams and could not have chosen a better time: cognitive scientists and psychologists are currently becoming interested in dreams again and are trying to understand why we dream. We do not dream randomly; dreams clearly have a purpose. They help us learn and even overcome traumas. Robb draws from historical and current research, from her own and others' experiences, and shows why dreaming is crucial for our mental and physical health.
