Klára is such an ugly duckling, a chubby girl without self-confidence. She would do almost anything just to be liked by someone. She is convinced that her worth only exists when she is thin or when someone finds her attractive. It doesn't even occur to her that it could be different.
Klára grows up in a family where everything revolves around plates overflowing with food. At the same time, she is influenced by her mother, who is constantly trying to lose weight, please her new boyfriend, and has little time for her daughter. The main character has to deal with bullying, the loss of her father, her mother's mental health issues, first loves, moving to England, and a dark emo puberty... Sometimes you will want to shake her to wake her up, to stand up for herself and take her life into her own hands. But something like that is not easy at all.
