This is the first publication that comprehensively addresses the ethical and legal issues associated with perinatal palliative care and perinatal loss. It offers a multidisciplinary reflection on multiple case studies and other stories provided by families after perinatal loss, or organizations that care for parents and families after perinatal loss. The stories are commented on from the perspective of legal regulation, ethics, and counseling for the bereaved and spiritual care. The goal of combining theoretical work and storytelling is to enable the reader to gain a deeper understanding of the issues and insights into the topics addressed from the perspectives of various actors in the situation. The publication addresses cross-cutting themes related to decision-making at the beginning of human life and related to pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, childbirth and abortion, decision-making regarding the provision of care for premature infants and infants born at the edge of viability, handling human remains, or burial. The text connects the fundamental lines of respect for human life from the end of the fertilization process to death.
