The author describes educational programs, communication, and rehabilitation for the hearing impaired in the book. ***** The hearing impaired have a relatively large representation in society, so it is necessary to pay attention to the quality of their lives. Hearing impairment affects patients on somatic and psychological levels, as well as social and emotional ones – meaning that care for patients must occur on all these levels. ***** Treatment of the hearing impaired requires an interdisciplinary approach. The patient must be attended to in mutual cooperation by the attending physician, nurse, and possibly specialists from other fields (psychologist, speech therapist, pediatrician, neurologist). In the treatment, education, communication, and rehabilitation of hearing-impaired patients, the role of the nurse is very important, as is her individual approach to the patient. Psychological criteria such as sufficient motivation of the patient and support from their family are also significant.
