The monograph focuses on the father and son - Kryštof and Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. In the first part, we will follow Kryštof's life and work from the moment he left his family estate in Upper Bavaria to join his older brothers and sister on their journey to apprenticeship and work in Prague, where he found a new home and embarked on a career as a builder and architect. This is followed by a period when the master father and apprentice son worked together on significant buildings such as the Prague Loreto and the Břevnov Monastery and its Broumov branch. ***** The second part takes us through the grand conclusion of the history of the Dientzenhofer family of builders and architects, as well as the peak of the development of the radical branch of Baroque style in the life and extraordinary work of Kilián Ignác. The third part is dedicated to more detailed descriptions of selected major works by both architects.
