Patologie – Mačák Jirka (2022)

The third edition of this pathology textbook is based on the previous second, supplemented edition. Given that ten years have passed since its publication, new classifications of pathological changes have emerged that students should be aware of. The authors also take into account foreign texts, primarily the latest American textbook Robbins & Cotran: Pathologic Basis of Disease. Since the time of publication, significant textbooks on Pathology by Prof. MUDr. C. Povýšil, Prof. MUDr. I. Šteiner, and co-authors; a three-part textbook on Pathology by Prof. MUDr. J. Zámečník, Ph.D., and co-authors have been published. Both works are excellent guides for medical students in the field of general medicine and for postgraduate education. However, for bachelor's programs and also for dental students, the texts are too extensive, students get lost in them and are unable to absorb and penetrate the material. Similarly, the presented textbook could be used for quick revision, given its better orientation. This publication aims not only to present medical terms but also to explain them, so students do not have to look up expressions in dictionaries and other specialized texts.
