Beschreibung
The monograph is dedicated to "ordinary – common" diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The experienced editors chose this topic for two good reasons. The first is that little is written about the "common" and it often remains in the gray area of routine clinical practice. The second is that various diseases and conditions are addressed by physicians from multiple specialties, but they do not always speak the same language, as they encounter the disease at different stages – some with findings that require nothing more than simple patient monitoring, others already at a stage with life-threatening complications. The editors consider the issue of common diseases to be important and current, highlighting the necessity of understanding the perspectives of other specialties. More than 20 pathological conditions were selected for the monograph, including peptic ulcer, infectious gastroenteritis, celiac disease, diverticular disease, cholelithiasis, hemorrhoids, irritable bowel syndrome, liver cirrhosis and steatosis, appendicitis, and colorectal cancer. The book is particularly interesting for general practitioners, internists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, pediatricians, and other specialties.
