The monograph provides a comprehensive overview of selected topics in social dynamics related to risk behavior among adolescents. Its content, which has an interdisciplinary character, is divided into two parts.
The first part focuses on the socio-psychological approach to key aspects of the structure, dynamics, and development of various social groups, as well as the most common phenomena arising from the relationship between the individual and the group as a socio-psychological entity. The book focuses on analyzing processes of conformity, adherence to group norms, and especially obedience, drawing on the most important experimental findings in social psychology. The authors examine, synthesize, and discuss the mechanisms of social influence and group pressure in shaping not only socially acceptable but also potentially problematic behaviors, such as various forms of risky behavior among adolescents.
The second part of the monograph is dedicated to empirical research on the influence of peer groups on risky behavior among adolescents in the Czech Republic. The authors investigated how significantly peer conformity affects the subjective feeling of popularity and susceptibility to risky behavior among young people.
