Clefts in the orofacial area are, alongside congenital heart defects and limb malformations, the most common congenital developmental defect in humans that is compatible with life. Every year, one in 500 to 700 live-born children in our country is born with an orofacial cleft. For these children to survive and integrate into normal life, they need specialized care. This book introduces readers to one of its essential components. ***** The first part of the publication focuses on the morphology of the various types of orofacial clefts, their etiology, prevalence, and classification. The second part addresses the specifics of dental development and tooth eruption in patients with different types of clefts of the upper jaw.
