The aim of the book is to describe the role of abdominal sonography as a fundamental imaging modality in the diagnosis of gallbladder and biliary tract diseases through case studies. ***** It presents both typical case studies, where abdominal sonography is the only diagnostically sufficient imaging method, and complex case studies, where sonography only raises suspicion or differential diagnosis, as well as rare case studies, in which abdominal sonography (despite findings from other imaging methods) along with the interpretation of clinical contexts is precisely the examination that leads to the correct diagnosis and direction of treatment. ***** Emphasis is placed on the appropriate analysis of the medical history, physical examination, and laboratory results. The case studies are vividly documented with photographs. Each case study is supplemented with a theoretical section containing sonographic and clinical notes or differential diagnostic principles.
