The bus icons Škoda 706 RO and Škoda 706 RTO still delight the eyes of not only older generations but also the young. The Škoda 706 RO bus was characterized by a very progressive cabless design for its time. It began serial production shortly after the end of World War II: first at the Avia factory in Letňany, Prague, and later at the Sodomkova coachworks in Vysoké Mýto (which was renamed Karosa, a national enterprise, after the so-called Victorious February). The RTO bus was created in the mid-1950s at the Karosa Vysoké Mýto plant (now IVECO Czech Republic) and featured an exceptionally successful timeless body. The book equally dedicates itself to both types, their individual versions, and the specials that were produced from components of both the RO and RTO series. It also discusses licensed manufacturers of both types, which were produced in countries such as Bulgaria and Poland.
