Beschreibung
In 1981, Pavel Taussig wrote his autobiography for his older son on his eleventh birthday. This was because he was also eleven when he found himself in Auschwitz. He then survived the camps of Mauthausen, Melk, and Gunskirchen, as well as the death march. In describing his experiences, he used only his own notes. He kept a diary and recorded his experiences from his arrest through the concentration camps to liberation as he remembered them vividly. He did not discuss them with anyone, writing to pass the long hours in hospitals in Austria, when he was still convinced that neither of his parents had survived the war. Gradually, Pavel Taussig supplemented the text with notes, documents issued in the concentration camps, and shortly after liberation, he included a transcript of the original diary he wrote from May 4, 1945, to July 27, 1945.
