Beschreibung
This Czech-language travel book follows Petr Macourek aboard a small sailboat crossing the Atlantic. After exhausting and nerve-racking attempts to hitch rides on sailboats in Europe, fate finally allows him to continue his journey around the world without an engine. He meets perhaps the world’s most tolerant captain, and together they set out across the Atlantic on a sailboat less than nine metres long. The book describes how violently a small vessel is tossed about on the ocean, how such a journey can transform a life, and how to cope with seasickness and cabin fever. It also recounts the breakdowns, difficulties and accidents that can occur at sea, alongside the wonderful calm and peace of the ocean, including its enchanting sunrises and sunsets. The most complicated part is the very end of the voyage, as pirates still attack in the Caribbean. The book concludes with the first kilometres by bicycle through dangerous Venezuela.
