Beschreibung
This book introduces Internal Family Systems (IFS), now a recognised psychotherapeutic approach. IFS challenges the idea of a single identity and emphasises the existence of different parts within each person, such as the inner child, inner critic and inner saboteur. These parts are partly independent of one another, and the coherence of our self determines whether they can form a sufficiently balanced and manageable whole. One of the author’s central ideas is that these parts are never inherently pathological, even when they contribute to a person’s difficulties. Many developed during childhood as forms of self-protection, and once relieved of their burdens, they can again become what they essentially are: helpful resources. IFS can be used in work with trauma, addictions, depression and anxiety. Written by the founder of the approach, the book presents basic IFS techniques, examples from therapeutic conversations and a range of exercises. Richard Schwartz was originally a systemic family therapist who developed the Internal Family Systems model in the 1980s in response to his clients’ stories. He is the author of numerous books and articles and the founder of the IFS Institute. The contents are in Czech.
