Beschreibung
Richard C. Schwartz is the creator of a method called Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. According to him, the human psyche is characterized by the existence of internal parts that sometimes manifest in extreme ways (substance abuse, dissociation, self-harm, perfectionism, obsession with appearance, avoidance of conflict, and many others). By learning to listen to these parts, clients can make their manifestations less destructive and begin to reveal the reasons for their original existence—to benefit the individual. The presented manual provides guidelines for working with clients who have experienced trauma, attachment disruption, and various other psychological difficulties. It succinctly and clearly presents case studies, techniques, overviews, tips, diagnostic procedures, and exercises for therapists of various orientations. The IFS method is grounded in neuroscience, utilizes the client's natural internal resources, and encourages a compassionate attitude towards oneself. The book is intended for psychotherapists or clients who wish to be inspired by the IFS method.
