Aggressive behavior, self-harm, destruction, or other challenging behaviors have a number of causes. Sometimes they are triggered by the disability itself, while at other times they may be provoked primarily by the behavior of people around them. The book addresses how people who work daily with individuals exhibiting challenging behavior can change their own approach so as not to actively provoke such behavior in their clients. The text is based on the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy.
