Kámen z nebe – Klassen Jon (2025)

Renowned picture book creator Jon Klassen has received numerous accolades from adults for his dry, spare humor in children's books. In this absurd meditation on friendship, fate, futuristic visions, and a strange feeling, composed of five chapters made entirely of dialogue, he introduces readers to a turtle, an armadillo, and a snake – all in hats and with distinct characters. The turtle stands in his favorite spot. He likes it there so much that he invites the armadillo to come stand there too. But suddenly, he has a bad feeling about it...
Thus begins a vivid exploration of fate, interspersed with a small, ominous taste of another world where children create humor themselves and are always a step ahead of the main characters while reading. Almost nothing happens, yet everything happens. This clever, darkly humorous, and unconventional story, in the author's characteristic muted color palette, combines visual tension with sharp wit and existential craziness, and is another of his minimalist gems.
