Beschreibung
When the author was 21 years old and studying psychology, she was diagnosed with psychosis, and her psychiatrist told her, "Someone with psychosis can never be cured. You should rather finish your studies and find sheltered housing." If she had listened to him, she would never have become a well-known Dutch expert on the stigma of mental illness. In her book, Should I Say It About Myself?, she draws on her experiences as a consultant and lecturer and strives to help people with mental illness engage as fully as possible in society and function independently. She provides practical advice on how much to talk about one's illness during a job interview or on a first date and how to deal with the stigma that is imposed not only by society but also by oneself. The goal of the book is to empower and give hope in a concise, clear language. The book is intended for people with mental illness, as well as their loved ones and professionals who work with them.
