Hedvika wishes more than anything to have her own horse. Her classmate Ellen just got a pony from her parents. Hedvika's pet also has four hooves, but somehow it just didn't work out. Hedvika can't explain to her dad that in second grade, the others only take seriously those who have horses, so she prefers to invent a new neighbor who owns three white horses. Suddenly, Hedvika becomes the most popular girl in class, everyone gives her candies and tries to win her over in every possible way. However, Hedvika gets tangled in a web of lies that she finds very difficult to unravel.
