Beschreibung
After a general interpretation of neuroses, the author divides mental disorders into endogenous psychoses, psychosomatic illnesses, functional disorders, and reactive, iatrogenic, psychogenic, noogenic, and collective neuroses. The term 'noogenic neuroses' reflects Frankl's belief that even problems of a spiritual nature or existential crises can seem to be sources of neurotic difficulties. Collective neuroses, on the other hand, refer to neurotic disorders typical of the spirit of the age in which a person lives. In the second part of the book, the author presents two main methods for treating noogenic neuroses – logotherapy as a therapy based on spiritual resources and existential analysis as a therapy focused on the spiritual realm and personal spiritual existence. The book is accompanied by many case studies. Viktor E. Frankl (1905–1997) was a professor of neurology and psychiatry. He is the creator of so-called logotherapy and existential analysis as the 'third Viennese school of psychotherapy,' which focuses on the search for meaning in human life. In his books, Frankl utilized his experiences as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. His book 'The Suffering of Meaninglessness' was published by Portál.
