Beschreibung
Nonviolent communication recognizes two concepts of power: power over someone and power with someone. Power over someone is held by those who criticize, blame, shame, reward, or punish others, and so on. Power with someone is possessed by a person who knows and acknowledges their own values and needs as well as the values and needs of others, and as a result, others attribute a position of power to them because they believe that this person will help fulfill their needs. The foundation of the book is a seminar held in Italy years ago by the method's creator, Marshall Rosenberg, in collaboration with Vilma Costetti, who was the first trainer of nonviolent communication in Italy. Through conversations with seminar participants, Rosenberg discusses various contexts of power, such as politics, business, school, or family. He also addresses the power of empathy and its impact on human health. The book shows us in simple language how to theoretically and practically acquire power, the strength of which lies in acting in harmony and together with others. Marshall Rosenberg was an American psychologist, mediator, author, and teacher who created the method of nonviolent communication, a process that fosters partnership and helps resolve conflicts between people, in relationships, and in communities. His books Nonviolent Communication and What You Say Changes the World have been published by Portál.
