Beschreibung
Andrea has four children, and both she and her husband are increasingly dissatisfied with the way of life that civilized society offers them with its precisely defined rules. They feel that their existence consists only of earning money, which they use to buy a multitude of things they don't really need, many of which are produced under unacceptable conditions. Their family is trapped by new media, and the children communicate much more with their tablets than with each other or their parents. Therefore, they decide to take a radical step: to leave civilization, move into an abandoned house deep in the Swedish forests for a year, and try to live an authentic life, relying on their own strengths and in close contact with nature. Based on true events, the book is based on the author's diary from this period and compellingly describes how the family rediscovers its inner strength and cohesion, as well as the conflicts that civilization suppresses but which arise in full force outside of it. Andrea Hejlskov is a Danish psychologist who taught psychology at a university and worked as a child psychologist, but then she and her husband decided to take the radical step described in the book. She recounted her experiences in a blog that was later published as a book.
