Beschreibung

This richly illustrated book is the first and only work in which C. G. Jung explains his immensely influential theory of symbols, particularly as they manifest in dreams, to a lay audience. Jung himself became convinced that he had a duty to explain his ideas to uninformed readers, and therefore, at the age of 83, he compiled the concept of this book, including assignments for his collaborators. He completed his work on the essay just 10 days before his own death. The entire book is woven with the belief that a person can achieve wholeness only through the knowledge and acceptance of aspects of the unconscious, which are recognized through dreams and their symbols. Every dream is a direct form of communication with the dreamer, using symbols common to humanity but applied in a completely individual way. Among the co-authors are notable Jungian students, such as Marie-Louise von Franz, Aniela Jaffé, and Jolande Jacobi.
