Mind, Self, and Society is the foundational work of G. H. Mead, regarded as the founding text of symbolic interactionism. Mead is a distinctive figure in intellectual history, who during his lifetime did not publish any books in the field of social sciences. Mind, Self, and Society was compiled by Mead's students after his death based on recordings of the author's lectures. The book, which has become one of the significant works in the history of sociology, social psychology, and philosophy, is being published in Czech for the first time in a shortened form, emphasizing the author's psychological theories. It is important for understanding the development of the individual and their inseparability from the society in which they grew up.
