Beschreibung
The Feuerstein method improves a person's cognitive skills and their ability to organize information. According to the author, intelligence is not an immutable structure, but it can be worked with and developed. In this book, the authors develop Feuerstein's principles, based among other things on neurobiological research, in the approach to stimulating and enriching the language development of young children and older children and adults who suffer from mental or other disorders. The approach is based on the principle of self-talk, or mediated self-talk, where the child participates in the self-talk of an adult (parent, teacher, therapist, caregiver), which inadvertently develops their own language skills. A key feature of the method is the resignation from interaction with the child – the goal is not to draw them into communication, but to keep them in an environment of natural language (with additional elements such as intonation, gestures, facial expressions...) that stimulate their own ability for language development. The next step may be to motivate the child to engage in their own self-talk, which is more acceptable to them than communication with another person, and this is not a pathological phenomenon, but a form of development.
