In his book, the author explores how corporations, originally abstract legal entities, have become a reality that dominates contemporary life. Corporatism and its ideologies have permeated all aspects of civic life, business, and culture. Life as a Limited Liability Company shows how we have come to view our homes more as investments than as places to live, how the amount of our pension has become a measure of life success, and how the internet has turned into just another space for commerce. How we have been detached from the world we live in, from each other, how we have lost our immediate relationship with the values we create. However, most importantly, Rushkoff shows that this does not have to be a permanent state, that these relationships can be restored, and a truly human society can be built. Douglas Rushkoff (1961) is an American journalist and writer. He graduated from Princeton University and the California Institute of the Arts. He has written ten books on media, culture, and technology, and also writes non-fiction and comics, and produces television documentaries.
