Beschreibung
This historical novel, whose contents are in Czech, follows Johana, the daughter of Bavarian Duke Albrecht, after she becomes the wife of Václav, the eldest son of Emperor Karel IV. She understands that beginning a life together with the young Václav will not be easy. They are separated by a considerable difference in age, while Václav must accompany his father on his journeys, leaving Johana alone and exposed to the dangers of the imperial court in Prague and the hostility of Václav’s stepmother, Empress Alžběta. When Václav’s father dies and he suddenly finds himself at the head of not only the Kingdom of Bohemia but also the Holy Roman Empire, Johana becomes Roman queen at his side. Will they both withstand the demanding task that awaits them?
