What happens to a person's character when they come into power for the first time in their life? Radek Novotný lives in an unremarkable small town and works as a clerk. Thanks to his innocently looking face, he makes it onto the election ballot, and eventually becomes the mayor. But only on the surface. He takes his role seriously and begins to change. In his new position, he seeks a new identity. His wife and teenage daughter are also searching for their identities, trying to embody the ideals of contemporary society. A novel about complex relationships, the search for oneself, and intergenerational wars that no one can win.
